The Unpack Physical file is designed to take an existing AS/400 file and to create a mirror image of it, except any numeric field is translated into zoned fields.

A typical translation, excluding the copy of data takes only a few seconds. If there are no packed fields to unpack, no problems. The utility will still work.

Having zoned data instead of packed data then enables the file to be transmitted properly using FTP.
